How-to Create a Photo Frame from a Cabinet Door

Robert has been in the woodworking field for over 10 years. He has always enjoyed working with his hands and his love for building and creating crafty things naturally led him to cabinet installation and finishing.

“I think what makes this particular project so special is the motivating factor behind it,” says Robert. “I have three beautiful daughters who inspire and help me with many of my crafty endeavors and this project was no exception.”

This photo frame originally began as a plain, white glass door. After thoughtful consideration and getting some input from his three girls, the consensus was to paint it a dark brown.

“I like to recycle as much as I can. I had a color of dark brown left over from another project and thought it would look great for this photo frame. You’d be surprised that it’s just spray paint. I added the framing to make six, 8×10 photo spaces and moulding to the outside as well. I adhered matting on the back so it would look aesthetically pleasing to the eye.”
